Are there simply too many realtors in Toronto? There are 64,000 licenced realtors at the TRREB meaning 1 in 59 members of the workforce in Toronto that have a real estate licence. This is the highest concentration of real estate professionals of any major cities.
Given our lowered inventory and surplus of realtors there is one realtor for every two homes sold. The fact of the matter is that despite this surplus of realtors licensed in the city the overwhelming majority of sales are conducted by a small minority of realtors. This causes an inefficiency in the overall economy and is not optimal for all sides of the equation.
With this surplus of realtors it becomes even more crucial that you adequately vet your real estate professional and as I always recommend interview a few agents to see who is the best fit.
